Examples of Duties:
All Lifeguards are required to have American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Paid lifeguard certification provided to qualified candidates. All Lifeguards must pass basic swim test and in-water rescue drills to be considered for employment.
Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring activities at the pool and conducting rescues to help weak or injured swimmers get to safety. Their duties include speaking with swimmers to enforce water safety rules and regulations, keeping track of each swimmer in the water and administering first aid to injured swimmers. Lifeguards are also required to handle the daily functions of an aquatic’s facility, notify supervisors of disturbances and emergencies, perform general pool and daily facility maintenance as assigned, participate in regular in-service trainings, open and close swimming facilities, perform duties with minimal instruction or assistance, function independently when performing regularly assigned tasks, and are expected to effectively problem solve situations within the parameters of designated job duties.
