Vegetation Management Inspector- job post California Forestry & Vegetation Management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vegetation Inspection: Assess, document and prescribe work along overhead electric power lines to meet utility and regulatory requirements. Create and maintain detailed records, communicate work activities with property owners. Identify vegetation clearances, growth rates and risk to the facility.

  • Public Relations: Promote positive relationships with the community by performing your duties with the utmost professionalism and customer care.

  • Additional Duties: Be flexible and take on additional tasks as needed to help meet project goals and team needs.

Qualifications:

  • ISA Certified Arborist designation is required.

  • A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, or Horticulture is a plus.

  • Proficiency with mobile applications is required, and the ability to quickly learn new systems is essential.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and an eye for detail are key.

  • Ability to work independently in diverse environments, including outdoor field locations in all types of weather conditions and terrain.

  • Attention to safety and a passion for environmental sustainability.

Work Environment:

  • Fieldwork will include remote locations and urban settings, requiring physical stamina and the ability to traverse a variety of terrains (e.g., steep slopes, uneven ground, wet, slippery surfaces).

  • Expect exposure to weather elements, noise, dust, and traffic conditions as part of your day-to-day operations.

  • Follow overhead electric power lines wherever they go and work with electric customers and property owners to both achieve utility requirements and maintain positive customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments and perform tasks like walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting light to moderate weights (5-10 lbs).

  • Comfortable operating a motor vehicle for extended periods and using field equipment such as handheld computers, range finders, and tools like fire rakes and shovels.

  • Must be able to see and hear within the normal range (with or without correction) and communicate clearly with the public and team members.
